Great experience with My Truck Buddy last week. Jimmy, Dave, and Nick moved everything in our 2-bedroom apartment in 90 degree heat, and they did a great job. There were a few complications (not their fault, unless they could somehow control the weather and insane DC traffic at rush hour) but no matter what happened their attitude was, “Don’t worry, we’ll get it done.”
MTB was less expensive but more professional than some of the bigger moving companies. And while it’s a little bit more expensive than renting your own U-Haul and getting your friends to help, the benefit to MTB is that at the end of the day, your friends remain your friends (because you didn’t bother them to help you move).
One bit of advice, if you talk with Chris, listen to his estimates about how long it will take to move, and how many boxes you’ll have. I might have thought I’d save money by renting a U-Haul and using one of the “moving partner” companies that they list to carry stuff. However, U-Haul’s estimate of how long it would take to load and unload was ridiculously low—probably only 1/3 to 1/4 of how long it actually did take. Since U-Haul’s partners charge by the hour, going that route that probably would have been more expensive anyway.
Bottom line, I’m in no hurry to move again soon, but if I were to do so, I’d hire these guys, no doubt.
