After My Truck Buddy, I’m going to ditch http://citymove.com or any other kind of movers. Yelpers already gave Chris and his buddies 5 stars, so add 5 more stars to his review. I emailed Chris Saturday (after his working hours) for a moving job. Although Chris doesn’t work on Sundays, he got back to me Sunday night to arrange for a move after work the next day. His rates are reasonable, especially the quality work that they provide. He charges $50/hour for one guy and $70/hour for two guys. When I told him $70 was outside of my budget, he called me to understand the size of the furniture, the physical obstacles of the moving sites, etc to provide a better estimate and save me some money. After some attempts at seizing up his own strength, he admitted it was actually a two man job – which was fine by me. Chris and his buddy Stu showed up on time at the pick up site. The seller I was picking up the furniture from commented that they were very nice and courteous when they arrived and packed up the bedroom set. SHE wanted to write a Yelp review for them as well. After spending an hour and 45 minutes moving with these guys – I don’t who wouldn’t want to sing praises to them and help them expand their business. They were fun, chatty, and light hearted throughout the move. They even put my bed together for me in a few seconds. I was short on cash, so I wrote them a check for the exact amount. 30 minutes after they left, I realized that I hadn’t tipped them. I called Chris up to ask if he accepted online payments. Apparently he does cash and checks only so far. He also turned down the tip, citing that I was cash strapped as a reason. What would give him that idea?
In short, these guys are affordable, reliable, respectful, professional, and fun! It’s such a relief to find nice people in a city of lawyers. I just moved here so I’ll be calling MTB again to get the rest of my apartment furnished.
