Ara the Ops Man: “I can work with that.”

I often think that categorizing moving as “unskilled labor” is hardly accurate. Sure, if you’re reasonably in shape, almost anyone can get into it. But still, you have to learn “a very specific set of skills” in order to succeed and, perhaps, even make it enjoyable. For example, you have to be able to lift sometimes significant weight and then gracefully maneuver it through tight quarters, and then secure it in the back of a truck that’ll be moving across bumpy roads.

Let me tell you – that is far less intuitive than you’d think. If you’d asked me ten years ago, I’d have said that any idiot could do the job. But now, after years of experience with a lot of guys (some of which were, in fact, idiots), I can say that there’s a big difference between schlepping boxes and moving with grace and strength.

That’s kind of the gist of what Ara was getting at here.
