You bet! We cover all the bases — auto insurance, cargo insurance, general liability insurance, and workman’s comp insurance.
There’s probably more, but after all the checks I write I just don’t like to think about it.
We strive, of course, to never need insurance. We had a hard enough time just getting insurance in the early days, and it’s never gotten cheaper. But when things do go wrong, our policy is to just make things right and leave the insurance company out of it.
I do, however, have to note that after doing this long enough, not every situation is as clear as I’d like. Sometimes, though it’s extremely rare, people try to take advantage of the movers — what a great chance to get some extra cash or maybe a new TV? (For example, once we scratched the wall in someone’s house. It was a $50 patch job, worst case scenario. The customer leveraged that incident to get the entire downstairs of her house repainted, and guess who got stuck with the bill? Yeah, that was fun, but it was before we’d put our policies in place to protect ourselves. At the time, I was a starry-eyed business novice, thinking our good will, customer service and karma would prevent us from unscrupulous people. That has, regrettably, changed.)
Most of the time, though, the facts are obscured. In those cases, I investigate everything I can to figure out the best course of action.
For more on that, check out our policies and limits of liability page on the home site.
Just be aware that as a “You pack, we move” kind of company, you are obligated to pack and protect everything you want us to move. We are obligated to move your belongings safely in the fastest manner possible — in other words to give you the best moving experience money (and perhaps beer and pizza) can provide.
Bottom line, though: we ARE insured, so there’s ultimately a safety net.
